Government spending Rs five billion on RBOD project

Quetta: The federal government is spending Rs 5 billion on Right Bank Outfall Drainage (RBOD) project aimed at protecting cultivated land from water-logging in canal areas of Balochistan under the federal government development programme. The project will be completed in three phases by 2008, official sources told APP here on Thursday.

A drain will be constructed from Nasirabad (Balochistan) to Mero Khan zero-point (Sindh) to drain out saline water of Balochistan. Besides, water-logging drainage will also be built parallel to Kerther canal under the project. A new water channel will be constructed in Nasirabad for utilising 400 cusec water for irrigation purpose.
