GRSE Launches India's First Double-Lane Modular Bridge in Remote Ladakh.

Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) has successfully fabricated and launched a 280-feet multi-span double-lane modular bridge on the Phobrang-Marsimik-La Hot Spring road in Ladakh. This significant infrastructure development, completed in a remarkable 20 days, marks a crucial step in bolstering connectivity in one of India's most challenging and remote terrains.

The newly launched bridge has been officially handed over to Project Himank of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). A GRSE official stated on Thursday that the bridge will facilitate "seamless connectivity for troop and equipment deployment for the Indian Army," greatly enhancing logistical capabilities in the region.

Emphasizing its unique nature, the official highlighted that this double-lane steel bridge, developed by GRSE, stands as the sole indigenous solution of its kind. Primarily known as a warship builder, GRSE has diversified its expertise, having already supplied 56 such bridges to the BRO across the country.

These bridges are designed with a carriageway width of 7.5 meters, allowing for two-way traffic flow in full compliance with specifications laid down by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. This project underscores GRSE's commitment to supporting national defence infrastructure with innovative and robust engineering solutions.
