"GRSE Secures Contracts for Hybrid Ferries and Export Vessel"

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) has secured two major contracts, reinforcing its standing in the shipbuilding industry. The company has been awarded a ₹226.18 crore contract by the Transport Department of West Bengal for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of 13 hybrid electric ferries. These ferries, a mix of 100-passenger non-AC and 200-passenger AC vessels, will be used for cross-ferry operations and are set to be completed within 30 months.

Additionally, GRSE signed a contract on October 3, 2024, with Germany's Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH & Co. KG for the construction of a 7,500 DWT multi-purpose vessel (MPV). This vessel is part of an eight-ship order valued at approximately $108 million and is the fifth in the series. Designed to transport bulk, general, and project cargoes, including large windmill blades, the MPV will be 120 meters long and 17 meters wide.

These contracts highlight GRSE’s growing portfolio and its expertise in delivering a range of vessels for both domestic and international markets.
