Gujarat CM Approves ₹145 Crore for Saraswati River Bridge Construction.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel approved ₹145 crore reently for the construction of a four-lane bridge over the Saraswati River in Sidhpur taluka, Patan district. The bridge will be located on the Mehsana-Unjha-Sidhhpur-Palanpur State Highway, aiming to upgrade the existing two-lane bridge built in 1959.

The new four-lane bridge will be constructed adjacent to the old bridge and will be aligned with the broader plan for a six-lane road, addressing the region's growing traffic needs. This project is part of CM Patel’s broader initiative to enhance Gujarat's road infrastructure by developing high-speed corridors.

"The new bridge will not only provide faster connectivity but also ensure safer travel for the North Gujarat region, supporting future growth," an official statement from the Chief Minister’s office said.

In addition to the bridge project, the statement highlighted the ongoing success of Gujarat's participation in the Smart Cities Mission. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the state has made significant progress in improving urban infrastructure. Notably, Dahod district has benefited from the development of a state-of-the-art Integrated Command and Control Centre at a cost of ₹121 crore, alongside the revitalization of Chhab Lake for ₹120.87 crore.

Gujarat is home to six cities—Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, and Dahod—under the Smart Cities Mission. Dahod, primarily a forest-covered area with a large scheduled tribe population, was included in the third round of the mission, leading to the establishment of the Dahod Smart City Development Limited (DSCDL) to manage the city’s transformation.
