US-Based NOV Launches Digital Technology Centre at Kochi Infopark.
Kerala Industries Minister P. Rajeeve inaugurated the Digital Technology Centre of NOV, a US-based global energy technology solutions provider, at Kochi Infopark. The centre will focus on software engineering, corporate digital services, and customer support, underscoring Kochi’s emergence as a prominent IT destination.
"Kochi has become a global IT hub, thanks to its world-class infrastructure, excellent connectivity, and skilled workforce," said Minister Rajeeve during the event.
NOV, with a 150-year legacy in the energy sector and a global workforce of 34,000, also operates manufacturing facilities in Pune and Chennai. The Kochi centre currently employs 70 professionals, with plans to double its workforce by early next year.
Staale Jordan, Vice President of Product IT at NOV, highlighted Kochi’s strategic importance as a rising Tier-II city. “Kochi offers an exceptional talent pool, especially among Gen Z professionals, and provides excellent connectivity. It’s an attractive alternative to Tier-I cities, which are witnessing a decline in new investments,” Jordan said.
NOV has invested $500,000 in the Kochi facility so far, with plans to scale this up to $10 million. While North America remains its largest market, NOV sees significant growth opportunities in India. The company is also exploring other Tier-II cities as part of its long-term expansion strategy.
The investment-friendly environment at Infopark and support from the Kerala government have been key factors in NOV’s decision to expand in India, Jordan added.
