Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Approves ₹4,179 Crore for Urban Development Projects.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved ₹4,179 crore for development projects across seven municipal corporations and 12 municipalities. This significant investment is part of the Urban Development Year – 2025 initiative, which was originally launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2005.
The funds are earmarked for transformative projects in major cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Rajkot, as well as the newly established corporations of Nadiad, Porbandar, and Morbi. Additionally, a dozen municipalities, including Visnagar, Borsad, and Una, will benefit from the push.
A substantial portion of the funding, ₹3,768 crore, is allocated for crucial infrastructure development. Key projects include:
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation: ₹2,940 crore for 252 projects.
Vadodara Municipal Corporation: ₹455 crore for 349 projects focused on urban mobility and physical infrastructure.
Rajkot Municipal Corporation: ₹367 crore for 302 projects.
Enhancing Urban Connectivity and Water Management
To improve urban connectivity and aesthetics, ₹219 crore has been approved for the construction of urban roads and Gaurav Paths. Among the beneficiaries are:
Rajkot Municipal Corporation: ₹136 crore.
Morbi Municipal Corporation: ₹15 crore.
Una Municipality: ₹17.76 crore.
Furthermore, ₹93 crore has been sanctioned for essential water supply and stormwater drainage systems to improve rainwater management. Morbi Municipal Corporation will receive ₹61.64 crore for these works, while Savarkundla and Dhanera municipalities will get ₹19.28 crore and ₹11.31 crore, respectively.
The CM also approved ₹80 crore for Rajkot and ₹2.72 crore for Patan under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana to support the development of outgrowth areas. Other municipalities will receive funding for unique development initiatives and public-private partnership projects.
