Gujarat Secures ₹1 Lakh Crore HUDCO Funding for Metro Rail, Expressways and Dholera Development.

Gujarat Secures ₹1 Lakh Crore HUDCO Funding for Metro Rail, Expressways and Dholera Development.

The Gujarat government has signed an agreement with state-owned Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) to secure long-term financing of up to ₹1 lakh crore for infrastructure development across the state, marking a major boost to its urban mobility and connectivity plans.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed recently in Gandhinagar in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

The funding arrangement is expected to support key projects under the state’s long-term development roadmap, including expansion of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail network (Phases 2 and 3), construction of expressways, development of sports infrastructure, and the transformation of Dholera into a greenfield smart city.

Alongside the funding pact, the state government also signed a separate MoU with the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad to provide technical and strategic support for upcoming infrastructure initiatives.

Under this agreement, the institute will carry out pre-feasibility studies, feasibility assessments, preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs), and impact evaluations for projects under the Viksit Gujarat 2047 programme.

Officials said the partnership is expected to strengthen project planning and execution by helping the government assess viability, prioritise investments, and improve outcomes for large-scale infrastructure development.
