"HAL Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Design and Testing Facility to Advance Strategic Engine Development"

In a significant development for aerospace innovation, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) unveiled a cutting-edge design and test facility at the Aero Engine Research and Development Centre (AERDC) in Bengaluru on Friday. The facility, sprawling over 10,000 square meters, is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing the development of strategic engines earmarked for trainer aircrafts, drones, regional jets, and light to medium helicopters.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane, who officially opened the doors to this state-of-the-art center. The facility boasts specialized machinery, advanced setups utilizing computational tools, an in-house fabrication unit, and two dedicated test beds. Notably, these test beds are designed for testing HTFE-25, with an additional one for HTSE-1200, and a separate unit for the upcoming joint venture (JV) engine developed in collaboration with Safran, France, destined for the Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH).

The Ministry of Defence released a statement highlighting the facility's significance in advancing HAL's capabilities in engine development, reaffirming the strategic partnership with Safran, and reinforcing India's commitment to fostering indigenous aerospace technology. This initiative marks a major milestone in HAL's pursuit of excellence and innovation in the realm of aeronautics.
