Herat Female Prison construction work started

Jozjan: The construction work of prison building for females in Herat province and the guest house of Water and Energy department in Jozjan province began which will cost $0.79.

General Abdul Majid Sadiqi, jail superintendent in Herat province said the prison is constructed in two acre land inside Herat central jail in eight months.

He said a two storey building will be constructed for lodging and a one storey building for professional training of imprisoned women such as rug weaving, embroidery and others.

Sadiqi said the building is constructed at the cost of $0.6 million by Italian Provincial Reconstruction Team based in Herat which would have capacity of 500 female inmates.

He said currently 72 female prisoners are detained in Herat central jail involved in various crimes.
He added about 1200 prisoners were kept in Herat central jail currently.

Meanwhile the construction work of Jozjan Water and Energy department guest house inaugurated by Muhammad Hashim Zari, Jozjan governor.

Ghulam Sakhi Amini, water and energy department head of Jozjan told Pajhwok Afghan News the building will be constructed in two storey with eight rooms at the cost o f$ 193000, granted by Asian Development Bank. He said the project will be completed in six months.
