Hettich India to Expand Carpenter Skilling Initiative with Two New Centres

German furniture fittings manufacturer Hettich India is expanding its skill development initiative with plans to establish two new training institutes for carpenters in Bengaluru and Kolkata, as it seeks to bridge the skill gap in the furniture fittings industry.

The company already operates two skilling institutes in Faridabad and Mumbai, where it trains carpenters in the use of machinery and mechanised systems for furniture manufacturing and installation.

"We have already set up two institutes—one in Faridabad and another in Mumbai. Two new facilities are coming up in Bengaluru and Kolkata. The objective is to train the carpenter community to use machinery and mechanised units for manufacturing and installing furniture," Rahul Thakkar, Director (Sales), Hettich India Pvt Ltd, told businessline on the sidelines of the launch of the company's new Experience Centre in Kochi.

Thakkar said Hettich trains around 6,000 carpenters annually, helping them acquire skills that improve their employment prospects across the furniture industry.

The company is also collaborating with Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to equip students with the technical expertise required to install smart furniture products, as demand for technologically advanced furniture solutions continues to grow.
