Hitachi Energy Plans ₹2,000 Crore Investment in Gujarat Power Equipment Facility.
Hitachi Energy India will invest around ₹2,000 crore to set up a large power transformer manufacturing facility at Karjan in Vadodara, marking one of the biggest investments in India’s power equipment sector.
The new plant, which is scheduled to become operational by FY28, is expected to manufacture a significant volume of large power transformers annually. The facility will cater to applications including high-voltage transmission corridors, HVDC projects, AI-driven data centres, power generation units and large industrial installations.
The company said the investment will strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities at a time when demand for transformers is rising sharply, driven by grid expansion, industrial electrification, renewable energy integration and the rapid growth of data centres.
“This investment reflects our confidence in India’s energy future and the country’s growing stature as a strategic manufacturing base. By expanding our manufacturing presence, we aim to empower local communities, create skilled jobs and deliver innovative solutions that support the country’s energy and sustainability goals,” said N Venu, Managing Director and CEO of Hitachi Energy India, in an official statement.
