Hyderabad Airport Rail Link Gains Momentum Following GHMC Flyover Announcement.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has unveiled plans for a new ₹345 crore, six-lane flyover spanning the Mailardevpally, Shamshabad, and Katedan junctions, running almost parallel to the proposed metro rail link to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

Officials said the bi-directional flyover, part of the Hyderabad City Innovation and Transformative Infrastructure (HCITI) initiative, is designed to ensure smooth vehicle movement across the busy junctions. The project is expected to benefit airport-bound passengers as well as commuters using the national highway who seek to bypass congestion.

The announcement has renewed citizen demand for a dedicated rail link to the airport, with stakeholders emphasizing the need for integrated transport solutions to complement road infrastructure and reduce travel times.
