Inauguration of India's Longest Sea Bridge, Atal Setu, Marks a Historic Milestone
The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), renowned as the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, is set to welcome the public for daily commute starting this Saturday. Spanning an impressive 21.8 km, with 16.5 km traversing over the sea, MTHL anticipates a daily influx of over 70,000 vehicles.
The grand unveiling of the six-lane Atal Setu took place on Friday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing his sentiments on the occasion. He emphasized, "The inauguration of Atal Setu showcases India’s infrastructural prowess and highlights the country’s trajectory towards a ‘Viksit Bharat’ [Developed India]. This monumental project engaged approximately 17,000 laborers and 1,500 engineers, fostering employment opportunities in the transport and construction sectors."
In addition to the inauguration, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for a myriad of development projects, collectively valued at over ₹12,700 crore, in Navi Mumbai. These initiatives span diverse sectors such as road and rail connectivity, drinking water, gems and jewelry, and women empowerment. The comprehensive approach underscores the government's commitment to fostering growth and progress across various domains.
