India and Middle East Witness Major Project Activity Across Infrastructure, Energy and Industrial Sectors

Bengaluru, October 8, 2026: India and the Middle East witnessed significant project-related developments across infrastructure, renewable energy, oil and gas, manufacturing and logistics, with fresh approvals, engineering contracts, financing arrangements and capacity expansions highlighting continued investment momentum.

In India, the government approved the ₹993.64-crore upgrade of the Rangpo–Ranipool section of National Highway 10 in Sikkim. The project includes road widening, tunnels, bridges and slope protection works aimed at improving regional connectivity and transport reliability.

The energy sector featured prominently, with Kerala pursuing a 500-MW/2,000-MWh battery energy storage project at Kayamkulam in collaboration with NTPC entities. The initiative is expected to support grid stability and renewable energy integration.

Renewable energy developments included a ₹911-crore financing sanction for a 225-MW solar power project associated with Bondada and Onix. CESC subsidiary Purvah Green also signed a power purchase agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 175-MW wind power project.

In industrial manufacturing, Shakti Pumps announced an additional ₹10-crore equity investment in its subsidiary developing a 2.2-GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, Voltamp Transformers commenced commercial production at its Gujarat manufacturing facility, adding 6,000 MVA of transformer capacity.

Other notable developments included a ₹78.84-crore transmission contract secured by Om Power Transmission in Gujarat and regulatory authorisation for the proposed 715-km Paradip–Raipur LPG pipeline. SECI also advanced renewable energy procurement initiatives, while Tata Power moved forward with a 300-kWp floating solar pilot in Maharashtra.

Saudi Arabia emerged as a major centre for industrial and energy-related contracts. National Energy Services Reunited (NESR) secured a turnkey agreement valued at up to $200 million for a direct lithium extraction project linked to Saudi Aramco. The facility targets production of 2,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate annually, with commissioning planned for late 2027.

Saudi Arabia also recorded an EPC contract exceeding SAR 288 million for the Ghazlan 1 gas delivery system. Separately, Lamprell and International Maritime Industries entered into an offshore fabrication agreement covering production platform and jacket-related works at Ras Al-Khair.

In the United Arab Emirates, Nakheel awarded marine development works for Dubai Islands' Island B, involving approximately three kilometres of shoreline. Sharjah's reported $2-billion Khorfakkan Port expansion also remained a significant logistics infrastructure initiative.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE additionally advanced cooperation on electricity-grid interconnection and railway connectivity studies, reflecting their emphasis on regional infrastructure integration.

Overall, the developments underline continuing opportunities for EPC contractors, engineering consultants, equipment suppliers and project developers. Energy transition, transport infrastructure, industrial localisation and strategic resource extraction remain important drivers of investment activity. However, the announcements represent different project stages, and reported financing and contract values should not be treated as total capital expenditure.
