India and Venezuela have significant potential to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector, according to the Ministry.

India and Venezuela recently held high-level talks to deepen bilateral cooperation, with energy security and broader economic engagement emerging as key areas of focus.

During a special briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on the visit of Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodriguez, Secretary (East) Rudrendra Tandon said the leader arrived with a large ministerial delegation and held official discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, followed by a working lunch.

Tandon highlighted the growing importance of energy ties between the two countries, noting that Venezuela has emerged as India's third-largest crude oil supplier this month. He said the discussions centered on strengthening the energy partnership while exploring opportunities to expand cooperation across multiple sectors.
