India to Expand Overseas Port Operations with New Terminal in Bangladesh's Mongla

Following successful agreements for port operations at Chabahar in Iran and Sittwe in Myanmar, India is set to manage a terminal at Mongla port in Bangladesh. This will mark India's third overseas port operation, reflecting New Delhi's growing confidence in expanding its commercial interests in the global ports and shipping sector.

The terminal at Mongla will be operated by India Ports Global Ltd (IPGL). A senior official from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways indicated that IPGL will now be the preferred entity for India’s international port operations, further solidifying India's strategic footprint in the region.
