"India to Undertake Infrastructure Projects in the Marshall Islands"

India has unveiled plans to enhance community infrastructure in the Marshall Islands as part of its strategic engagement in the Pacific region. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday, outlining initiatives under India's annual grant-in-aid program.

The proposed projects include the construction of a community sports center, an airport terminal, and two community centers aimed at bolstering local amenities. Additionally, New Delhi is set to provide desalination and dialysis units to address critical healthcare needs in the Pacific nation.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized, "These projects will significantly upgrade infrastructure for the people of the Marshall Islands. India is committed to supporting the priorities and requirements of Pacific island nations." He underscored sectors such as healthcare, affordable medicines, education, renewable energy, and clean water as key areas of collaboration between India and the Pacific region.

India's proactive engagement in the Pacific extends beyond infrastructure development. Recently, New Delhi extended immediate relief assistance worth $1 million to Papua New Guinea following devastating landslides, demonstrating its commitment to regional humanitarian efforts.
