Integral Coach Factory Launches India’s Longest EMU Rake with 15 Cars.
Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai recently rolled out India’s first-ever 15-car EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) rake, marking a significant milestone in the country’s suburban rail operations.
Currently, the maximum number of cars in a suburban train rake in India is 12. The new 15-car rake is designed to operate in the Mumbai region and has a passenger capacity of 7,555, providing a major boost to commuter transport in one of the country’s busiest rail corridors.
According to an official release, ICF plans to manufacture 12 such 15-car rakes over the coming months, further strengthening the suburban rail network and enhancing passenger carrying capacity.
