Invest Karnataka: Bengaluru Should Be India’s Global Tech Hub, Says Piyush Goyal.
Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized Karnataka and Bengaluru’s potential to become the global hub for technology centers in India at the Invest Karnataka 2025 event recently.
Goyal assured the Centre’s continued support for Karnataka’s growth, stating, “The government of India will always stand as a pillar of support. Karnataka should lead in fintech, tourism, media, animation, and gaming to define its technology-driven growth and strengthen India’s economic backbone.”
Highlighting India’s economic trajectory, Goyal noted that the country is set to become a $5 trillion economy and the world’s third-largest by 2027, with Karnataka playing a crucial role in exports. India’s exports are projected to reach $800 billion this fiscal year, and the nation has seen nearly $700 billion in FDI inflows over the past decade. He added that India is poised to add $30 trillion to its economy over the next 30 years, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi driving transformative reforms.
The minister also acknowledged Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar’s requests for state incentives and urged state leaders to leverage the Centre’s recently announced 100 industrial hubs and clusters. He cited the PM Mitra Park in Kalburgi and the Tumkur smart city project as key developments, with the latter spanning 7,500–8,000 acres and featuring walk-to-work infrastructure. The first phase, covering 1,736 acres, is expected to be completed by next year.
Goyal also underscored Bengaluru’s potential as a hub for global capability centers (GCCs) and urged collaboration in advancing AI, quantum computing, semiconductors, space technology, and biotech. “Tech and future industries are where Karnataka has made rapid strides. Together, we can work as partners in progress,” he said.
