Islamabad: Early implementation on transnational gas pipeline project will open new avenues of economic co-operation among the regional countries. This was stated by Federal Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon, while talking to Indian High Commissioner Satyabrata Pal, who called on him here on Thursday.
He said Pakistan is endowed with huge deposits of coal and both countries could benefit in coal mining and power generation sectors. The minister recalled his visit to New Delhi in last March on the eve of the Saarc energy ministers moot where he held fruitful discussions with his Saarc counterparts for expanding the level of energy co-operation among the member states. He said the Saarc energy grid set-up at the conference would provide a meaningful platform for enhancing energy co-operation in a befitting manner.
The Indian envoy lauded the efforts of Government of Pakistan for promoting the Saarc co-operation in multi-dimensional fields, including the oil and gas for the benefit of the people of entire region. He said both India and Pakistan have enormous potential for enhancing the existing volume of interaction in diversified fields, including the vital energy sector to sustain their economic growths.
