"IREDA Allocates ₹1.05 Crore for Development of Sport Science Centre in Uttarakhand"

A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed today between Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), and SEWA-THDC, a not-for-profit society sponsored by THDCIL. The agreement provides ₹1.05 crore in financial assistance from IREDA for the development of a Sport Science Centre Hall, spanning approximately 298 square meters, in Koteshwar, Tehri, Uttarakhand.

The MoA was signed by Ms. Durre Shahwar, Additional General Manager (HR) of IREDA, and Shri Amardeep, General Manager (S&E) of THDCIL, with the presence of Shri Pradip Kumar Das, CMD of IREDA; Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance and Projects) of IREDA; Shri Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel) of THDCIL; and other senior management members from both organizations.

In his remarks, CMD of IREDA, Shri Pradip Kumar Das, emphasized that the Sport Science Centre Hall represents a key step towards establishing a world-class High-Performance Academy for Kayaking and Canoeing. This initiative aims to foster long-term athlete development and excellence in the sport.

The CMD also highlighted that investing in sports facilities contributes to improved health care and performance for athletes. The CSR project falls under the CSR activities as specified in Schedule VII of Section 135 of the Companies Act, which supports the promotion of rural sports, nationally recognized sports, Paralympic sports, and Olympic sports.
