Jaypee to set up cement unit in AP

Hyderabad: The Noida-based Jaypee Group will be setting up a cement manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh with Rs 1,600 crore investment.

“The company has already acquired 250 acres of land near Jaggayyapet in Krishna district to set up a 5 million tonnes cement manufacturing facility,” Mr N Prasad, Commissioner of Industries, Government of Andhra Pradesh, said.

The company expects to commence cement production by 2010, he added.

On the impact of global economic slowdown on the investment in the State, Mr Prasad said there is no change/delay in the previously announced investment plans of the major corporates.
