JCB India awaits MIDC’s land for facility expansion
Pune: Leading construction equipment manufacturer JCB India is awaiting allotment of land from Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) for its facility expansion plans. JCB India has demanded another 100 acre land next to its two present units in Talegaon near Pune, to which the Government of Maharashtra is yet to react.
JCB inaugurated a new dealership facility in Pune along the Mumbai-Bangalore national highway.
The facility would be run by Siddharth Auto Engineers. JBC India Managing Director and CEO Vipin Sodhi said, 'We need around 100 acre land for our immediate expansion plans. We have forwarded a proposal in this regard to the state government. However, we are yet to hear from state-owned MIDC over the land allotment.'
JCB, as part of its planning, has decided to have an expanded set up in Talegaon ready by December 2008. The present situation however has ensured that the land allotment itself will happen by the year-end. JCB, in November last year, had inuagurated its excavator manufacuting unit in Talegaon industrial area, when the demand for the next piece of land was forwarded. The company is also upgrading its facility in Ballabhgarh (Haryana) presently.
