JSW Energy Commissions 261 MW Renewable Energy Capacity, Totaling 12.8 GW.
JSW Energy Limited has announced the successful commissioning of 261 MW of new renewable energy (RE) capacity, significantly boosting its operational portfolio. This addition, comprising 189 MW of solar and 72 MW of wind power, increases the company's total installed capacity to 12,760 MW.
This marks a robust start to Q1 FY26, with JSW Energy reporting a cumulative capacity addition of 1.9 GW during the quarter, encompassing both organic growth and inorganic acquisitions. As a result, the share of renewables in the company's overall capacity has now risen to 56%. The renewable breakdown includes 3,554 MW of wind, 2,157 MW of solar, and 1,391 MW of hydro capacity. The company noted that this timely capacity addition will allow it to capitalize on the peak renewable generation season, contributing significantly to its overall renewable output.
JSW Energy now boasts a total locked-in generation capacity of 29.9 GW. This comprises 12.8 GW already operational, 12.5 GW under construction across thermal, wind, solar, and hydro projects, and a pipeline of 4.6 GW. Beyond generation, the company also has 29.3 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity, delivered through 26.4 GWh from hydro pumped storage projects and 2.9 GWh from battery energy storage systems.
Looking ahead, JSW Energy aims to achieve 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by FY 2030. The company has also set an ambitious long-term goal of achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
