JSW Energy Expands Capacity by 1,466 MW Since April, Reaches 14,920 MW.

JSW Energy has added 1,166 MW of renewable-energy capacity since April 2026, taking its total installed generation capacity to 14,920 MW following the completion of the acquisition of Maruti Clean Coal and Power Ltd.

The company said the renewable-capacity addition already represents more than 94% of its total organic capacity addition achieved in FY26. JSW Energy is pursuing a strategy of expanding its clean-energy portfolio while maintaining a strong thermal generation base to support grid reliability and energy security.

Renewable energy now accounts for 60% of the company’s total installed capacity. Its renewable portfolio comprises 3,125 MW of wind, 2,360 MW of solar, 1,696 MW of hybrid and 1,781 MW of hydro capacity.

The company’s thermal portfolio stands at 5,958 MW, taking its overall installed capacity to 14,920 MW. JSW Energy remains on track to add 3 GW of greenfield capacity during FY27.

The company has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.4 GW, including 14.9 GW currently operational, 13.5 GW under construction across thermal, hydro and renewable projects, and a 4 GW development pipeline.

JSW Energy also has 29.6 GWh of locked-in energy-storage capacity, comprising 26.4 GWh of pumped-hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage.

The company aims to increase its generation capacity to 30 GW and energy-storage capacity to 40 GWh by 2030. It has also set a target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
