Kalyani Powertrain & Taiwan’s Compal Electronics Partner to Manufacture Servers in India.

Kalyani Powertrain, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge, has signed a technology licensing agreement with Taiwan’s Compal Electronics to manufacture X86 platform servers in India. The partnership aligns with the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative and aims to boost domestic server production.

Under the agreement, Compal will provide technological support, including overseeing local production, assembly, testing, and final sales. As part of this collaboration, Kalyani Powertrain’s electronics division launched its Made-in-India servers in February from its advanced manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra. The company stated that the facility would enhance local businesses and contribute significantly to India’s manufacturing potential.

This partnership is expected to strengthen India’s manufacturing capabilities and reduce dependency on imports, while providing enterprises, cloud providers, hyperscalers, and government organizations with high-performance, cost-effective server solutions optimized for AI workloads, cloud computing, and large-scale data processing.

Bharat Forge Vice-Chairman and Joint MD Amit Kalyani expressed confidence in the collaboration, stating, “This association will give a strong impetus to India’s manufacturing competitiveness. We are ecstatic and encouraged by the trust Compal has placed in the Kalyani Group.”

Compal CEO Tony Bonadero highlighted the synergy between the two companies, saying, “Kalyani Powertrain’s extensive experience in the Indian market will create synergistic effects in our collaboration. We look forward to expanding our ICT-related business opportunities together.”
