Karnataka Ties Up with Medical Colleges to Improve Government Health Infrastructure.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare in Karnataka has decided to sign memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with medical colleges to enhance healthcare services at primary health centres (PHCs), community health centres (CHCs) and taluk hospitals across the state, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.

Speaking at a programme in Mangaluru recently, where medical equipment worth ₹68.80 lakh donated by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited was handed over to the Government Lady Goshen Hospital, he said the initiative will improve healthcare delivery at the primary and secondary levels.

Under the proposed MoU framework, skills and resources available in medical colleges will be leveraged to provide additional clinical and diagnostic support. Colleges will work closely with government facilities to strengthen service capacity and improve patient care, he added.

The Minister clarified that no financial assistance or grants will be provided to participating medical colleges under this initiative. He also stated that administrative control of PHCs, CHCs and taluk hospitals will continue to remain with government medical officers.
