LNG Mashal project enters new phase

Karachi: Government of Pakistan has granted letter of support to Consortium of 4Gas & Vito for the first LNG import project, Chairman Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources Dilawar Abbas said.

The LNG Mashal project was initiated in 2006. SSGC selected two companies to import LNG, namely consortium of 4 Gas & Vito and Shell Gas and Power.

While briefing on Mashal Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), he said the selected consortium has entered in negotiation with Qatar’s government to seal the sale purchase agreement, which is to be completed within 90 days under the agreed condition.

The project will be completed by 2011 to contain the gas shortage. “The government is all set to continue LNG imports through its Mashal-2 project by 2013 to meet the country’s gas requirement.
