For the 72-km elevated metro rail project being developed along three dense corridors, the year 2016 has been an eventful with a number of long-pending properties being acquired and contentious issues resolved thereby facilitating the project progress.
Among the major successes has been resolving the deadlock over the rail overbridges and commencement of works on several sections. The metro received all the 57 three car trains (57 x 3=171 coaches) from Hyundai Rotem of South Korea.
In yet another important milestone, the metro project has secured nod from the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety for couple of segments.
Earlier, there were some concerns about the overall expenditure on the metro project likely to shoot up, there is no official word on whether the cost will go up.
There is also some possibility of the project time line getting extended.
