Maharashtra Aims for ₹3 Lakh Crore Worth of MoUs at Davos

A ten-member delegation, spearheaded by Industries Minister Uday Samant and senior officials from the Industries Department and MIDC, is actively engaged in discussions with various business and industrial groups at the prestigious Davos event.

This marks the second consecutive participation of Maharashtra's delegation, operating under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's leadership, at Davos. The State government reported a substantial success from last year's conference, with investment agreements totaling ₹1 lakh 37 thousand crore, of which an impressive 76% materialized.

Chief Minister Shinde emphasized his dedicated efforts to attract value-adding industries, with a focus on sectors such as steel, information technology, IT-related industries, nuclear energy, renewable energy sources (including green hydrogen), diamonds and jewelry, data centers, logistics, automotive, and agro-industrial ventures. The diversification strategy aims to bolster Maharashtra's economic landscape.

The State government's agenda includes discussions with industry and business leaders to encourage investments in regions beyond Mumbai and Pune. The emphasis is on attracting investors to consider areas like Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Gadchiroli, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Jalna, and Raigad for their untapped potential. This approach aligns with the broader goal of fostering balanced and sustainable economic development across the state.

Expressing optimism about the potential realization of the newly proposed MoUs, Chief Minister Shinde acknowledged the success of previous agreements. This demonstrates the state's commitment to fostering economic growth through strategic partnerships and targeted investments. Chief Minister Shinde highlighted the delegation's active participation in global forums like the World Economic Forum as a testament to Maharashtra's proactive approach in attracting diverse industries and promoting regional development.
