Mahindra Holidays Plans ₹800-Crore Expansion for Construction of Three New Resorts in Tamil Nadu
Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd (MHRIL) is set to embark on a significant expansion plan with the construction of three greenfield resorts in Tamil Nadu, entailing an estimated investment of ₹800 crore over the next 5-6 years.
This strategic move aims to double MHRIL's presence in Tamil Nadu, complementing the existing Club Mahindra resorts in Ooty and Kodaikanal. The proposed resorts, strategically located in unexplored areas of the state, are anticipated to not only enhance tourism but also create job opportunities for around 1,500 individuals.
Following closely on the heels of the ₹1,000-crore investment in Uttarakhand announced last year, this ambitious project represents the second-largest investment by MHRIL. The investment aligns with the company's broader expansion goals, aiming to increase the room inventory from 5,000 to 10,000 by the year 2030, as stated in an official statement.
Emphasizing their commitment to sustainability, all new resorts in Tamil Nadu will strive to be champions of net-zero energy, water, and waste. This initiative aligns with MHRIL's overarching goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040, reflecting the company's dedication to environmentally responsible practices.
Club Mahindra, with a robust network encompassing over 125 resorts across India and abroad, boasts a substantial member base of 2.9 lakh. The upcoming expansion in Tamil Nadu not only reinforces the brand's commitment to providing unique vacation experiences but also contributes to the economic and environmental well-being of the region.
