Chief Minister Manik Saha of Tripura announced that the state's rail connectivity will receive a significant boost with the operationalization of train services from Agartala to Kolkata via Bangladesh. The successful trial run of the proposed Agartala and Gangasagar (Bangladesh) route, connecting Agartala to Kolkata through Bangladesh, has already been conducted. Saha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that his promise of providing "HIRA" (highways, I-way, railway, airway) to the northeastern state has been fulfilled. He flagged off the Agartala-Deoghar Express train with LHB coaches and mentioned that the Centre has sanctioned funds for upgrading Agartala station to world-class status. Additionally, Rs 93 crore has been allocated to convert three railway stations – Dharmanagar, Udaipur, and Kumarghat – into Amrit Bharat stations.
