Max Healthcare Eyes Medical College Expansion.

Max Healthcare Institute Ltd’s board has granted in-principle approval to explore and evaluate the establishment of medical colleges and medical institutions, either directly through the company or via a subsidiary.

The decision was taken at the company’s board meeting on Thursday, August 13, against the backdrop of a proposed amendment to regulations by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The proposed changes are expected to enable companies incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013, to undertake activities related to setting up and operating medical colleges and institutions.

Max Healthcare operates a network of 21 healthcare facilities and hospitals across India, with a combined capacity of more than 6,000 beds.

The company’s proposed foray into medical education could potentially expand its presence beyond healthcare delivery into the education and training of medical professionals.
