Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited Considers Setting Up Mega Shipyard in Maharashtra.

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited is seriously evaluating the construction of a mega shipyard in Maharashtra as part of its broader strategy to expand operations and support the Indian government’s ambition of making the country one of the world’s top five shipbuilding nations, Chairman and Managing Director Capt Jagmohan said recently.

The proposed project is expected to strengthen the company’s shipbuilding capacity and enhance India’s position in the global maritime sector amid rising demand for commercial and defence vessels.

Earlier this year, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited acquired a 51 per cent stake in Colombo Dockyard as part of its overseas expansion strategy. The Mumbai-headquartered defence public sector undertaking is also exploring additional growth opportunities to widen its footprint in the shipbuilding and maritime industries.
