M&M to invest Rs 100 cr on its Diesel Engine

New Delhi: Mahindra and Mahindra will invest Rs 100 crore in next one year, to make its diesel engine for the SUV - Scorpio - compliant with the US emission norms.

'We would be making our M-hawk engine compliant with the T2B5 emission norms in the US in little over a year. We would be investing about Rs 100 crore for the purpose,' Mahindra & Mahindra President Automotive Pawan Goenka told reporters in Delhi.

He said once this M-hawk becomes T2B5 compliant, the company would launch its Sport Utility Vehicle Scorpio in the US market by the middle of 2009.

Already, the company has earmarked Rs 200 crore for the M-hawk engine development programme.
