MoEF lifts ban on industry expansion in Bhavnagar, Junagadh and Vapi New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) has lifted the moratorium imposed on expansion of industries in Bhavnagar, Junagadh and Vapi industrial areas. The ban, however, will remain in force in critically polluted Ankleshwar taluka in Bharuch, Ahmedabad and Vatva.

In a communique dated March 31, the MoEF said that since the action plans were not finalised within the prescribed time limit, the moratorium on the expansion of the existing as well approval for new projects within the critically polluted areas will remain effective. The ministry had imposed the moratorium on August 31 last year.
