MRRD completes 380 uplift projects

Kunduz City: Over 380 uplift projects have been completed during one year benifiting over 197000 families in northern Kunduz province, but some people considered the projects were of low quality.

Ahmad Niro, Rural Rehabilitations and Development head of the province said during the one year they have implemented 380 projects at a cost of 383 million afghanis from budget of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD).

He said the projects consisted of leveling 304 km road, 1936 bridges, 189 wells, 6 schools, and other uplift projects like supportive walls, tailoring, and handcrafts

He added the projects were implemented in Aliabad, Chardara, Qala-i-Zal, Dasht-i-Archi, Khanabad, Imam Sahib district and Kunduz city.

He said 25 per cent of the projects were projected to target women.

He said over 197000 families benefited from the projects and public supported the NSP projects.

Ahmad Zia, resident of Chardara district said we did not have drinking water but after two wells were dug in our area by MRRD, our problems were resolved.

He said: 'we were bringing drinking water from 4 km meter distance and water was also not hygienic'

But some people complain about the quality of the projects.

Maulvi Abdullah, provincial council head told Pajhwok Afghan News some of the projects have not been properly implemented and road leveling was not properly under taken.
