Multi Modal Logistics Park to be fully operational by 2017-18.

Tenders are being finalised for second and third phase expansion of Multi Modal Logistics Park of Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) near Visakhapatnam International Airport to make it fully operational by 2017-18.

CONCOR Director (Projects & Services) V. Kalyana Rama told The Hindu on the sidelines of the fourth edition of East Coast Maritime Business Summit here that they were investing Rs.350 crore on the project at Vimannagar to make it an integrated logistics with international standards with seamless connectivity.

As part of the first phase, a container freight station has been established in an area of 10 acres out of 100 acres acquired for the project. The third phase will also have a Private Freight Terminal. At present, the facility has a capacity to handle 60,000 to 70,000 TEUs. Once it becomes fully operational, it will have a capacity to handle 0.3 million TEU.

Mr. Rama said they were expecting rail connectivity to the facility by June/July.
