Five key locations in Gurgaon, including Cyber City, Rajiv Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Kherki Daula near Dwarka Expressway, and Pachgaon, are set to become major transit hubs for commuters, enabling seamless connections between the Delhi-Alwar rapid rail corridor and other existing and planned transport networks.
Officials confirmed on Thursday that the proposed multi-modal integration plans aim to link the RapidX stations with key corridors like the Gurgaon Metro, Rapid Metro, ISBT, Dwarka Expressway, Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC), and the KMP Expressway, providing more travel options for both long-distance and local commuters in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The first hub will be developed in Cyber City, which will feature an underground RapidX station. This hub will be connected to the proposed Gurgaon Metro line and the existing Rapid Metro. Strategically located in Gurgaon’s corporate center, the hub will provide better connectivity for office-goers and an indirect link to Delhi via Sikanderpur station.
Another key hub will be at Rajiv Chowk, located at a busy road intersection. This station will be linked to the planned metro route from the railway station to Bhondsi and a proposed bus terminal, aimed at easing congestion on NH-8.
Hero Honda Chowk, which is set to be the third transit hub, will connect the Rapid Rail with the Gurgaon Metro line crossing the highway at this spot. The addition of this hub to the RapidX route was made after a revision of the original plans.
A fourth hub will be built at Kherki Daula, near the Dwarka Expressway, an area experiencing rapid population growth and lacking sufficient public transportation. This hub will improve last-mile connectivity and facilitate access to new residential sectors.
Finally, the Pachgaon hub will link the RapidX station with the proposed ISBT and metro station, along with the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor and the KMP Expressway.
These transit hubs will play a pivotal role in decongesting roads and improving connectivity for commuters across the region. The NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has revised its detailed project report (DPR) for the RapidX corridor, which will now be developed in one stage, from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to SNB, with 22 stations along the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.
The project is expected to enhance transportation infrastructure significantly, with an aim to meet the growing demand for efficient transit solutions in the NCR region.
