Multi-skill development centre to be functional in April next year: CM.

The upcoming multi-skill development centre in Ludhiana, announced by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal last month, would be made functional in April next year, said Badal while presiding over a meeting to review the progress of the project at Punjab Agricultural University recently.

This centre is coming up on the vacant premises of 'Knitwear Facility', managed and run by Punjab State Hosiery and Knitwear Development Corporation, at local Industrial Focal Point, Phase V.

A high-level review meeting of the CM and the committee of industrialists constituted for the project, headed by Pankaj Munjal, was held. The CM said that the entire capital cost of restructuring and renovating the existing infrastructure at the Knitwear facility would be borne by the state government and the committee comprising eminent industrialists would manage the affairs of the centre.

Munjal from Hero Cycles updated the CM about this centre through a presentation. He said that they were hopeful that the approval of draft regarding this centre would be ready by October 1. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) would be signed with the state government by October 8 and in-principle sanction of grant from the state government by October 15.
