Multi-storied mfg complex to come up in Guindy Estate

Chennai: Guindy Industrial Estate will soon have a multi-storied manufacturing complex, specifically dedicated to micro and small enterprises, the CMD of Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (TANSIDCO), Mr D. Rajendran, said.

Addressing an event here to recognise outstanding entrepreneurships in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), organised by Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA), Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation Ltd (TIIC) and MSME Development Institute, he said construction of the first multi-storied complex with 250 modules of 400 sq ft and 600 sq ft sizes will commence soon. This will help address the demand from entrepreneurs who want to be in the vicinity of their customers. Similar complexes will come in Ambattur and Perungudi.

TANSIDCO is planning to conduct a study on energy audit upgradation. The study will be conducted by Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Gujarat and funded jointly by the Tamil Nadu Government and the Centre. This is primarily to educate entrepreneurs on the use of energy efficient equipment, which will make them cost competitive.

Earlier, the Principal Secretary, MSME Department of Tamil Nadu Government, Mr P. Selvam, inaugurated the on-line facility for applying subsidy under MSME Policy 2008 and released the Micro Industry Survey report of Ambattur and Perungudi.

The Tamil Nadu Industries Commissioner, Mr G. Santhanam, said the online facility for getting subsidy was the first of its kind in the country.
