Multiple uplift schemes underway in Paktia

Gardez: Multiple uplift ventures, worth 20 billion afghanis, are under construction in southeastern Paktia province, officials claimed.

Addressing a public meeting participated MPs, provincial council members and heads of sectorial departments held in provincial capital, Gardez Governor Juma Khan Hamdard said numerous achievements were being made during the ongoing year.

While reporting annual development of the province, Hamdard added that over 537 ventures worth 20 billion afghanis were commenced throughout the province like the construction of Gardez-Khost Highway, two university buildings and other such mega projects.

He said over 59 school facilities have been constructed in all over the province, and ventures in agriculture, education and health have also been either completed or under progress. Hamdard said,We are trying to have even more ventures in the coming year. He also thanked USAID for providing efficiency enhancement approaches through LGCD consultants for elevating government officials capacity which provided them managerial and professional skills that helped also decreased the problems.

He also claimed the growing harmony between public and government for reconstruction and successful management. Responding to a query of this news agency Hamdard said due to professional training of employees in terms of drafting proposal and project designing, they have attracted donors attention to implement useful projects in the province.

Ziarat Khan, provincial representative confirmed governors remark and appreciated his role in this regard, but added that still much more were needed to be done in the province.
