Mumbai Port Privatization Plan Marks Largest Number of Berths Put Up for Private Operation.

As part of its sustainable business strategy, the Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) plans to bring in private players to operate and maintain the Indira Dock berths, enabling clean cargo handling along with marketing, administration and overall management responsibilities.

“This is a kind of pioneering and innovative approach by Mumbai to bring and develop sustainable business plans. We have called for Expression of Interest (EoI) to attract the best available trade partners, including the top players in the industry,” M. Angamuthu, Chairperson, MbPA, told businessline.

Although private operators have been engaged at other ports, this initiative marks the largest number of berths to be opened to private participation at Mumbai Port, a move expected to draw significant interest from leading logistics and port operators.
