Murugappa’s EV Division Opens New e-SCV Manufacturing Facility in Chennai.

TI Clean Mobility Pvt Ltd, the electric vehicle arm of Murugappa Group’s Tube Investments of India, has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility for electric small commercial vehicles (e-SCVs) in Ponneri, Chennai.

Spread across 5 lakh sq ft, the plant is operated by TIVOLT Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of TI Clean Mobility. With an annual production capacity of 50,000 e-SCVs, the facility aims to cater to the growing demand in the Small and Light Commercial Vehicle (SCV/LCV) segments.

The inauguration was led by Arun Murugappan, Executive Chairman of Tube Investments of India Ltd (TII), alongside Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of TI Clean Mobility, and Saju Nair, CEO of Tivolt Electric Vehicles.

The plant will produce Eviator, the company’s e-SCV model, which features a certified range of 245 km (with a real-world range of 170 km), an 80 kW power output, and 300 Nm torque, making it the most powerful in its segment. It also comes with an extended warranty of up to 7 years or 2.5 lakh km.
