New UDAN Version Set for June 20 Rollout, Aims for 100 Airports Expansion.
The Centre is preparing to roll out the next phase of its regional aviation initiative, with the modified UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme expected to be unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kolkata on June 20.
The revamped Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-UDAN will span a 10-year period from FY27 to FY36 and will be supported by a budgetary outlay of ₹28,840 crore. The programme is aimed at strengthening air connectivity to underserved and unserved regions across India, expanding access to affordable air travel.
The initiative follows the Union Cabinet’s approval in March 2026 of the modified UDAN framework. The updated scheme is designed to deepen regional connectivity while also addressing operational bottlenecks and infrastructure gaps that emerged during earlier phases of implementation.
