NetApp opens development centre in Bengaluru.

Data and storage technology provider NetApp has opened a new development centre in Bengaluru, with an investment of ₹1,000 crore.

This new development centre will have an engineering laboratory and will house a data centre spread across 12,000 square feet, spread across 15 acres. It has the capacity to house 3,300 seats of which 2,200 has been filled, NetApp India Managing Director Deepak Visweswaraiah told reporters.

NetApp has about 10,000 employees globally.

Further, the centre will also have start-up accelerator programme, called Escape Velocity, that will help nurture technology start-ups.

NetApp CEO George Kurian said: “This facility with our employees and talent and the ecosystem that we have built through the relationships and partnerships that we have here in India will enable us to come up with next breakthrough ideas on how to make the digital world through data management better, faster, cheaper and more differentiated.”

NetApp has had a presence in India for about 15 years and its team was working on R&D for global products and has seen innovations from the country which has resulted in these investments.
