New road to be constructed in Kunar province

Asadabad: Over 42 kilometer long road between two districts will be constructed with the total cost of about eight million US dollars in Kunar province, officials said.

Contraction assignment of the project between Governor Fazlullah Waheedi and the American Commander of Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) held in provincial capital, Asadabad.

Waheedi said the 30 kilometer long road of the project connecting Sarkano district with Khas Kunar district will be completed in 16 months. Small bridges and road-path will be also constructed on the road, he added.

Work of the road will be executed by a Construction Company named Unit Builder, he said, adding over 400 workers and 120 Afghan security guards were employed in the project.

The second project of constructing a road connecting Manogi district with Wanat Waigal district was also taken underway this morning. The second project provided job opportunities to 200 workers and 50 security guards, he continued.

The contract assignment was also participated by Khas Kunar district chief, Syed Mahbob Badshah and Muhammad Rahman Danish district chief of Manogi district.
