"NHAI Expects Completion of Lucknow's 104km Outer Ring Road by December to Ease Access to Ayodhya's Ram Temple"

In an effort to streamline travel to the sacred Ram temple in Ayodhya, representatives of Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh conducted a field review of the 104km long four-lane outer ring road, and NHAI officials have announced plans to finish the project by December.

Saurabh Chaurasia, the NHAI project director, shared, "Currently, only 20% of the project remains unfinished, primarily between Behta (next to Mohan) and Sitapur highway (next to Bakshi-Ka-Talab). The construction of two railway over bridges (ROBs) and one bridge over the Agra-Lucknow expressway is ongoing. We have also reached out to NTPC to secure a substantial supply of fly ash for the next few months, which will be used in our concrete structures to expedite the bridge construction."

The project, valued at Rs. 3,500 crore, commenced in 2020 but faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The completed outer ring road will feature two service lanes on each side, transforming it into an eight-lane project.

Diwakar Tripathi, Rajnath Singh's representative in Lucknow, reported, "During our inspection, we observed the installation of girders over the rail track in the Kakori area, with concrete slabs placed on girders installed on the highway at Bakshi-Ka-Talab and the rail track nearby." He also noted that work was in progress on the flyover approach on the highway connecting Lucknow and Hardoi, as well as at the Gomti River. Furthermore, an underpass was being constructed at Jehta Mall Road.

The project also encompasses the construction of a B-loop 'leaf' to facilitate entry and exit from both Kanpur and Lucknow sides on the outer ring road. This component is currently under development on the section connecting the Rae Bareli highway and Kanpur highway.
