NHAI to develop wayside amenities on highways

New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will develop 500 sites for providing wayside amenities to highway after completion of its four-six lane sections.

The wayside amenities will be developed on an approximate area of about 20,000 sq m and given on lease by NHAI for 15 years and extendable to 30 years.

The comprehensive wayside amenities will include parking lots, snack bar/ restaurant, toilets, rest rooms for short stay, first aid, telephone booths, petrol pump/ minor repair shops (optional), kiosks for sake of miscellaneous/ sundry items, landscaping and space for spreading awareness about various Government welfare programs.

NHAI has also signed lease agreements with two petroleum companies for establishing, operating and maintaining wayside amenities.
