"NHPC Signs MoU with Maharashtra Water Resources Department"

NHPC Limited has re-signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Water Resources, Government of Maharashtra, to establish a series of Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) with a combined capacity of 7,350 MW. This follows a recent policy update issued on July 31, 2024, regarding the development of PSPs and hybrid renewable energy projects through Public-Private Partnerships.

The renewed MoU includes the development of four major PSPs: Kengadi (1,550 MW), Savitri (2,250 MW), Kalu (1,150 MW), and Jalond (2,400 MW) in Maharashtra. These projects are part of a broader initiative to integrate energy storage systems with other renewable energy sources like solar and wind. The original MoU was previously signed with the Department of Energy, Government of Maharashtra.
